Kingston Unity Special General Meeting 2020

Information and Updates

Join us for our special meeting to decide the future of your Society

Our SGM will discuss a very significant matter regarding the Society’s future. Against a backdrop of increasingly complex and significant operational, regulatory and market challenges, it is becoming increasingly difficult for the Society to balance sustainability and Member value.

As a result, the Board has considered other strategic options to help preserve and enhance Member value. After much research, discussion and assessments, the Board are recommending the transfer of Kingston Unity’s engagement to the Independent Order of Oddfellows Manchester Unity Friendly Society Limited. More commonly known as The Oddfellows.

Delegates of our SGM will be given the opportunity to put questions to the board about this decision and the impact it will have on them as Members of the Society.

Update – Monday, 19 October

We can now confirm that we intend to hold the formal SGM, where attending Delegates will be able to vote on the proposed transfer of Kingston Unity’s engagement to The Oddfellows, on Saturday, 14 November from 10:00 am.
